GBSD Passphrase Management with Okta Dashboard

GBSD has a new portal to help staff and partners manage their district passphrase. This article will walk you through logging into the Okta Dashboard portal and how to change your passphrase. Users can also use the Okta portal to recover access to an account in the event of a forgotten passphrase. This article assumes that the user has already set up their account in Okta.

Note: If you attempt to login to the Okta portal and receive the following error message, it means that your passphrase has already expired and you will need to contact our GBSD helpdesk for assistance (ext 4755 - option 1): "Reset password is not allowed at this time. Please contact support for assistance"

You know you current passphrase

Login to the GBSD Okta Dashboard
In the upper right corner, select your user profile and in the drop down select settings
Scroll down to the Change Password section

Okta account is setup but you have forgotten your passphrase

Go to the Okta Dashboard login screen and enter your username
On the next screen where you enter your password, select Forgot Password link
The next screen will prompt you to Send me an email. This will send an email with options to both your primary district email as well as your secondary email (if it is on file with HR) such as your personal address or agency address for partners.
Once email is retrieved, you have the option of clicking the Reset Password link in the email or using the code it provides. The links are good for 15 minutes.
Next step is to answer the security question you set up
Final step is to change the passphrase
