This article will walk users through changing their Gresham-Barlow credentials using a Windows computer.  Changing the passphrase here will, in turn, change the users credentials on the current computer, and everywhere the GBSD passphrase is connected: Google, Clever, Synergy, Red Rover etc.

Network Connection

• To change the passphrase on your Windows computer you must be connected to the GBSD network wired or wireless (GBSDLearning or GBSDPrivate).
• If you receive an error “Configuration information could not be read from the domain controller” make sure you are connected to one of the private GBSD networks e.g. GBSDLearning or GBSDPrivate. You will not be able to change your passphrase from GBSDPublic, ATV, or another internet source.
  
  

Passphrase Criteria

• Minimum 16 Characters
• Can’t be one of the last 3 passphrases used

The criteria listed above are the minimum requirements, but we would recommend making a longer multi-word passphrase. Get more info about how to choose a passphrase.

Before You Begin

• If you are using the Google Authenticator App on your phone as an authentication method, be sure it is not synced from your Google account, otherwise it will bump you out of the app and you won't be able to use it to get back in. Review this article to make sure the app is not synced.

Step-by-Step Directions

1. 
   

   Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard
   

2. Select the Change Password option
   

3. Enter your current passphrase in the Old password field, and the new passphrase in the New password field, and verify it. Your new passphrase must meet the following criteria. (Get additional guidance for Choosing a Secure Passphrase.)

   1. Minimum 16 characters.
   2. Must not be one of the last 3 passphrases used.
      

4. You will receive a confirmation your passphrase (password) has been changed, this includes your Google account, Synergy, and any other systems connected to this account.
