Changing Passphrase - HP Elite
Modified on: Thu, Jan 30 2025 7:36 AMThis article will walk users through changing their Gresham-Barlow credentials using a HP Elite computer. Changing the passphrase here will, in turn, change the users credentials on the current computer, and everywhere the GBSD password is connected: Google, Clever, Synergy, Red Rover etc.
Network Connection
- To change your passphrase you must be connected to the GBSD network.
- If you receive an error “The server is unavailable” make sure you are connected to one of the private GBSD networks (e.g. GBSDLearning or GBSDPrivate). You will not be able to change your passphrase from GBSDPublic, ATV, or the Internet.
Passphrase Criteria
-
Your new passphrase must meet the following criteria
- Minimum 16 characters.
- Must not be one of the last 3 passphrases used
- If you need some help selecting a passphrase see this KB article: Guidance for Choosing a Secure Passphrase
Before You Begin
- If you are using the Google Authenticator App on your phone as an authentication method, be sure it is not synced from your Google account, otherwise it will bump you out of the app and you won't be able to use it to get back in. Review this article to make sure the app is not synced.
- If you need any help with Google Authenticator or would like any assistance with changing your passphrase, please call our GBSD Help Desk, available school days 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM at 503-258-4755 (Option 1).
Directions
- Be onsite at a GBSD location and connected to a GBSD private network (e.g. GBSDLearning or GBSDPrivate)
- Change your GBSD passphrase at this website: https://password.gresham.k12.or.us/
- Click on the choice titled "HP Elite - How to Change Passphrase" and enter the needed information. The 2nd box for "Password", is the current passphrase.
- Enter your new passphrase twice and click "Change". If you don't see the "Change password completed." screen you may have to try again due to the passphrase not meeting the requirements (as described above).
- After the password has been changed, restart your your device. Try logging in with your new passphrase.
